Reason to Celebrate

I bought Cottages & Gardens Publications a year ago today as I write this, and the November issue that you’re reading marks our first anniversary. I’m delighted to say that our first year has been a good one. This issue is up 57 percent in advertising revenue and the company is up 54 percent. With all the dire news of magazines closing and ad revenue down, this is reason indeed to celebrate! ■ We also moved into new headquarters on the Norwalk River, with plentiful light and room to grow. Some of C&G’s many partners helped furnish our offices, among them Christopher Peacock, Klaff’s, AKDO, Aitoro, Turabian & Sariyan, The Shade Store and Ridgefield Glass. We all work better in a stylish environment. ■ This is entertaining season and we’re involved with several celebrity chef face-offs. The first one, at Clarke’s huge and wonderful South Norwalk showroom, had Fritz Knipschildt of Chocopologie facing off against Matt Storch of Match. Everyone in attendance was served three fantastic courses, all featuring root veggies—yes, even the dessert! ■ And Susan G. Komen for the Cure acknowledged C&G for raising over $30,000. It’s been a wonderful year for Cottages & Gardens, sponsoring events that both entertain and inform you, while supporting important causes that give meaning to our lives. As you read the November issue, filled with ideas for entertaining, design resources and holiday shopping, I hope you’ll celebrate this important year with us, and look forward to many more.
