Proud As A…

Christopher Peacock created the first white kitchen.

Marianne Howaston, CEO Letter SFCandGLast year, we received more than 200 entries for CTC&G’s Innovation in Design Awards (IDAs) in the Kitchen Design category, and the kitchens were all WHITE! The person who is credited with creating the first white kitchen that changed kitchens forever and spawned dozens of imitators is Christopher Peacock.

It’s not only because he is a fellow Brit that I am delighted to announce that the recipient of the 2018 Innovator Award at the CTC&G IDAs will be Christopher Peacock, founder and CEO of Peacock Home, but also because he is one of the most significant influencers in home design in the world today!

Christopher has spent a lifetime in design starting with Terence Conran in London and then coming to America to the Boston Design Center and the Architects & Designers Building in New York before launching Christopher Peacock Cabinetry in 1992 in Greenwich. While his showrooms have grown from Greenwich to New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Short Hills, Cannes and London, his heart is still very much in our neighborhood.

A couple of years ago, Christopher and his wife, Jayne, alerted us to the plight of the kitchen at the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk, which serves three meals per day (more than 20,000 meals per month) to those in need. The place was in sore need of renovation. Chris not only threw the whole kitchen out and enlisted his family and friends to gut the room (oh the dust!), but his organization replaced it with a sparkling kitchen, new flooring, appliances and easy-care, stainless steel shelves! “He has a big heart” as they say in Scotland.

Join us in May to see Christopher receive this very well deserved award at the Connecticut IDAs. See you there!

Christopher Peacock is being honored with CTC&G's Innovator Award for the 2018 IDAs.
