Spring Happenings

Marianne Howaston, CEO Letter SFCandG

Spring is bustin’ out all over with a crop of fabulous events in April and May that you must put on your calendar. As you know, dear readers, SFC&G is an enthusiastic supporter of the arts. Celebrate spring with us at the de Young Museum’s “Bouquets to Art,” where from April 14 to 19, gifted floral designers bring their imaginative interpretations to works in the de Young’s permanent collection.

And for the second year, SFC&G will create the central VIP lounge at Art Market. This time we are delighted to work with Austin Forbord and his team from Dzine. Inspired by the great showrooms of Milan, Dzine masterfully places furniture, accessories and art in carefully planned vignettes that present a unified design vision—an aesthetic, an attitude, a lifestyle. So look forward to an island of fabulousness within a sea of great art from all over the world at Fort Mason from April 30 through May 3. On May 7, SFC&G is sponsoring a magical “Gala Under Glass” evening at the Conservatory of Flowers with sumptuous food and exotic cocktails, and a sneak peek of its upcoming special exhibit, “Stranded! Tropical Island Survival.”

If you can’t resist spring house tours, we have a couple of top-notch events for you. On Friday, May 15, the Community Service League kitchen tour provides more than 600 guests the opportunity to visit five beautiful homes in Hillsborough and San Mateo. Then, you can finish the month on May 30 at the AIA San Francisco Marin Home Living Tour—the first tour series in the Bay Area to promote residential design from the architect’s point of view.

(Floral design is by Takako Ikebana Studio for the de Young’s “Bouquets to Art.”)
