Where Did 2010 Go?

For us it flew by in a flash, and I am happy to say that, in spite of the misgivings we all felt at the end of 2009, 2010 was a great year! Our revenues were up a whopping 95 percent and our sponsored events have enjoyed record attendance. The season kicked off at the Maidstone hotel and Art Hamptons, followed by a summer full of designer book signings, shopping events and garden and house tours. Autumn was capped off by the inaugural Harvest east end wine festival and a special trend report from the Paris Maison et objet by Hermine Mariaux. Our “circle of influence” has been working overtime and those involved have benefited enormously. Luxury marketers who have worked hard this year to reinvent themselves, maximize their marketing and increase the dialogue with consumers have fared better than others. As we approach 2011, it is with more confidence and optimism for a the new year. ■ Some of our friends have their annual fundraisers and holiday events coming up. the east Hampton Historical society’s house tour on saturday November 27 is worth putting on your calendar as it will be wonderful and for a good cause. ■ For many it is peak selling season, so coming home for the holidays is even more precious. It is our time for exchanging gifts, entertaining and spending time with family. I hope you will use this issue for inspiration for all of the above. ■ All of us at Cottages & Gardens wish you and yours a most wonderful of holiday seasons filled with laughter and joy, and a prosperous 2011.
