A Perfect Party

“What is your favorite summer holiday?” Sophie Donelson of EditorTV asked dozens of design industry personalities at the gala opening of the first-ever Holiday House Hamptons, presented by HC&G. Each room in the show house (see page 68) represents a holiday that’s significant to the home’s 24 designers, who arrived festively dressed in white and described their fantastic spaces to press crews from around the world. Aerin Lauder, one of the event’s design chairs, arrived to see her new fabric and accessories featured in the Mabley Handler–designed great room, and Thom Filicia, also a design chair, held court all evening as a crush of media crowded into his sumptuous living room. ■ Guillaume Gentet, fresh from a hilarious interview on Good Day New York, was wearing a pale blue Chesley McLaren–designed jacket, which had Fox News host Greg Kelly convinced he was channeling George Washington rather than his Bastille Day theme. And designer Inson Dubois Wood not only parked a red Ferrari in his “man cave” garage, but added a Chesney’s fireplace mantel, a chandelier, and a glorious grand piano, turning the space into an informal cabaret. ■ Co-chairs Iris Dankner, who is the founder of Holiday House, and Christopher Hyland toasted the crowd after Myra Biblowit thanked everyone for the significant donation the entire enterprise would be making to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The evening ended perfectly as guests left laden with gift bags under the light of the brilliant supermoon, which glowed spectacularly above this very special house.
