Summer Fun

Laughter erupted in the courtyard outside Anthony Baratta’s charming new shop in Westhampton Beach as partygoers compared their red, white, and blue outfits. It was a spontaneous show of sartorial support for Tony’s new venture and it’s predominant color scheme. Even the deejay, decked out in navy and working on a gleaming red surfboard, got the memo. ■ Lots of designers from the city showed up, as well as the wonderful people from the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island (RMH-LI). Tony is the design chair of RMH-LI’s Project Design 2013, for which HC&G’s sister publication NYC&G (New York Cottages & Gardens), 20 top designers, and Kravet are joining forces to redecorate 18 bedrooms and common areas. Look for the newly minted rooms in the Holiday issue of NYC&G. ■ The party capped off a perfect day on the East End, which started at Vogel Bindery in East Hampton, where I am having complete sets of Cottages & Gardens publications bound for posterity. But who can decide on the perfect leather, tooling, and leafing? Given Paul Vogel’s top-drawer clientele, “I’ll have what Oprah’s having” seemed to be the easiest solution. ■ Down the road in Wainscott, I bought a book on Hamptons history at Serena & Lily’s first-ever bricks-and-mortar store, then stopped in at Eugenia Au Kim’s Design Studio in Bridgehampton, where I fell in love with a beige linen lamp with a scrolled silver overlay. ■ So much more to see and do, with only nine weeks left in the season!
