The Big Reveal

marianne-howatson-ceo-letter-sfcandgOn the eighteenth of this month, the CTC&G-sponsored Connecticut Designer Showhouse on the Green opens with a gala on the grounds and your chance to be the first to see the results of months of work by dedicated volunteers, fabulous designers and sponsoring manufacturers.

St. Paul’s rectory in Fairfield has been “done-up to the nines,” as my mother would have said. Ellie Cullman is this year’s design chair along with 20 interior and garden designers who will showcase their skills across 18 different spaces, inside and out. While staying true to the history of the house, several rooms have been reconfigured, the outside porches rebuilt and the grounds completely redesigned.

The house will also feature the first virtually designed room! Reflecting the myriad ways that one can shop these days, CTC&G invited Decorist (decorist.com), the online decorating site, to design the library. Celebrity designer Christina Murphy has designed the room without ever having set foot in it. Furnishings were chosen online from Safavieh Home Furnishings, and Design Team Safavieh provided on-the-ground assistance.

Follow the progression of this room at cottagesgardens.com and on social media at #ctvirtualdesign. To purchase tickets to the gala or to see the house through October 25, go to cottagesgardens.com/ctdesignershowhouse. For more on this year’s showhouse, keep an eye out for our October issue.

See you there!
