A Festive Fall

September is a busy month as we swing into full gear for fall, and NYC&G will be celebrating on many levels. On the 9th, designer Scott Sanders is hosting a soiree at his fabulously colorful duplex penthouse in Chelsea, which is featured in this issue on page 62. We are looking forward to sunset cocktails on that most coveted of New York amenities—a large rooftop terrace.

On the 10th we’ll be traveling to Manhasset to check out the newest fall collections at the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams showroom. If you will be in the neighborhood and want to join in on the fun with our local Gold Coast readers and designers, send an e-mail to rsvpmanhasset@mgbwhome.com.

On the 17th, NYC&G’s second annual Innovation in Design Awards takes place at the Harvard Club. A who’s who and who’s-soon-to-be of designers and architects will be in attendance, toasting winning projects in the categories of architecture, interior design, garden design, and kitchen, bath, and innovative product design. Headlining the evening is Mario Buatta, who will receive the coveted Innovator Award for his outstanding contributions to the design world. An homage to Buatta will be the focal point in mighty Harvard Hall, created by designer Bryant Keller with dozens of fabulous fabrics and more than $1 million in antiques. Tickets sold out at last year’s event, so get yours early at cottagesgardens.com. Proceeds from the evening benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.

The next day, September 18, all of C&G’s publications are hosting nearly 20 book signings by major design-industry authors in a pop-up library that will span the entire fourth floor of the New York Design Center, part of its “What’s New, What’s Next” series. Co-hosted by Potterton Books, the event will offer visitors the opportunity to peruse new books, meet the authors, visit the showrooms, and
partake of refreshments. See you there!
