It’s Show Time!
busy preparing for our first designer showhouses of the 2014 season, and you might say it will be an embarrassment of riches. The name Designer Showhouse of New York is a bit of a misnomer, given that what’s actually being showcased are 12 apartments on the penthouse floors of the Residences at W New York – Downtown, decorated by 20 of the biggest names in design. Alexa Hampton and Richard Mishaan are the showhouse’s design chairs, and the decorating extravaganza will be presented in the pages of exclusive media sponsor NYC&G later this year. Mark May 15 on your calendar for the opening night party, or enlist your friends for a few hours of fun between May 16 and June 29, when the apartments are open to the public. And it’s all for a good cause: Proceeds will benefit Lenox Hill HealthPlex’s new center for emergency medicine. Turn to our Calendar (page 104) for more information on this and other NYC&G events.
From June 28 to August 10, our sister publication HC&G will be presenting the second annual Holiday House Hamptons—and this showhouse isn’t a true “house” either, but rather several residences in the restored Watchcase factory in Sag Harbor, conceived as a “village within a village” by developers Cape Advisors and Beyer Blinder Belle Architects. HC&G’s roster of top designers will be transforming a townhouse, a bungalow, and a factory loft, and design chairs include decorators Steven Gambrel, Vicente Wolf, and Thom Filicia. Proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, so be sure to head east and join the fun—it will be extraordinary!
